3 year wait for the new VW Golf25-Aug-2014

The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf was released in 2012, but enthusiasts will have to wait until 2017 for the new model, according to German magazine Auto motor und sport.

The magazine stated that the new Golf will look very different to the current model, while it’s set to be lower and wider with restyled front and rear lights.

There will also be advanced safety options, including automatic braking and parking, while the Infotainment system will include a heads-up display and a Mirror-Link, allowing drivers to use their smartphone apps via the touch screen display.

The Golf is Europe’s best selling car, and like the existing model, the new design will be based on VW Group’s generic MQB architecture yet it will be 110 pounds lighter. There has been no comment as yet from Volkswagen on the eighth generation of Golf, yet history has shown that there is often a considerable amount of waiting time between each model. After all, the existing Golf is only the seventh generation in 40 years of production.
